Leilu Hernandez is a textile artist, curator, and historian whose work engages fiber as a site of eroticism and disobedience. With a background studying history at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, their practice is informed by archival fiber art, queer protest, and women's labor. Learning textile techniques through digital platforms, Hernandez showcases an alternative method of fine art education outside of private institutions. Resisting mechanization, the pressures of speed, and perfection. Showcasing across the country from San Francisco to New York City, their work confronts ideas of the working class and traditionally exclusionary establishments.
